Hello
I’m Kerry, thanks for visiting Beachcomber Jewellery.
I’ve been making jewellery for over ten years and I absolutely love it. I’m also a little bit obsessed with beachcombing and feel incredibly lucky to live near to the beach in Ceredigion, where I can hunt for sea glass and comb the beaches most days.
One aspect of beach combing that’s not so pleasant is the amount of rubbish that accumulates on the beaches. The plastic washed up on our shores is so hazardous to wildlife. So beach cleaning is a huge part of the beach combing experience!
ETHICAL
I’ve spent time studying the human story in the fashion industry, we all need to be aware of how we treat our fellow humans in the making of our clothes and jewellery.
For these reasons I really want Beachcomber Jewellery to be somewhere you can go to find something that’s both beautiful and also created as ethically and sustainably as possible.
I use recycled silver and gold, these metals have a guarantee of authenticity. Their quality is the same as mined sterling silver or gold and can be hallmarked as such, but does not have the same environmental and social impact. All of the gemstones used are ethically sourced. All of the raw diamonds are conflict free.
The designs are inspired by the coastal environment, by its beautiful ever changing textures and colours.
WEDDING RINGS
It’s an absolute joy to make wedding rings and really special to be able to offer an ethical alternative.
Each piece of jewellery is individually handmade by me in my little shed using traditional hand tools and avoiding harmful chemicals.
Beachcomber jewellery is not about perfection just creating beautiful wearable pieces without impacting on the environment.
SUPPORTING CONSERVATION
I’m married to a conservationist and Mum to three awesome boys, awareness of the environment and the effect we humans have on it, is part of our daily life. I feel incredibly strongly about the conservation of biodiversity and caring for our planet, it needs to be looked after for future generations.
1% of sales from the sale of sea glass jewellery will be donated to the Marine Conservation Society to promote their amazing work protecting our coastal environment and its wildlife, being able to support them through sales of the jewellery is amazing.
Our family business Lifeforms Art shares nature art to celebrate conservation and biodiversity. One of our main aims is to connect children with nature, which we think is one of the most positive things we can do for the future of our planet. You can find out more below.
